TOPIC: TEST OF INTEGRITY AT YOUR DUTY POST (I)
Read: Genesis 37: 2, 39: 1-23, Proverbs 11: 1, 20: 23.
Calvary
greetings.
While reading the
account of Joseph in the prison, I was challenged by this young man’s level of
devotion to God and his transparent integrity which has been a constant issue
in his nature.
Referring to Genesis
37: 1, the Bible concluded on the life of this teenager as an individual who
hated sins of all description. At an age of youthful exploration (17), when his
mates was toying with premarital sex, pot smoking, extreme sexual adventure,
yahoo-yahoo, cultism and all other forms of pervasion, this young man stood out
in righteousness.
In addition to the
above, Joseph refused to be an accomplice to ‘bad report.’ He witnessed all the
evils his siblings perpetrated. Though, the Bible did not itemize these but
they could be tricks played in their field of profession, animal husbandry: lies
like ‘’Daddy, a wild animal invaded the herds and we lost some animals or
Daddy, the sheep did not produce enough milk today.’’ and so and so forth.
Instead of
participating, in these evils, he ‘exposed’ his siblings, not minding the
consequences.
His idea of integrity
in the prison therefore should not be a surprise but his second nature which
was built over time.
In Genesis 39: 20 –
23, the Bible says he was imprisoned but God was with him so much so that the head
warder did not interfere in Joseph’s management style and skills.
As a Christian who is
in charge of government treasure, can you (the reader) display such level of faithfulness and integrity?
Will you not take advantage of your office to divert the prisoners’ rations?
Will you not corner the foods brought for the prisoners by their loved ones:
eating and gleaning the meat from the bones and giving them the bones? Will you
not even connive with the prisoners to use mobile phones and encourage jail
break for an exchange of some ‘gifts?’
Brethren, if Joseph
who did not speak in tongues nor experienced water baptism by immersion was found
to be faithful, then you can. You have no excuse!!!
Are
you prepared for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ? He will surely
come?
Peace!
