TOPIC: DADDY & MUMMY, TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN (II)

Read: Gen 18: 16-19, Gen 22: 1-9, Judges 13: 1-14

Calvary greetings to you in Jesus name.

Sequel to the most recent post, it is pertinent to look into the lives of some fathers of faith in the Bible and how they brought up their children.

(i)                           Father Abraham
Though, much was not said about Isaac’s upbringing, but it can be inferred that Abraham sounded to me like firm and disciplined man; husband, employer, father and uncle.

Referring to the hosting of the three (3) divine visitors, Abram involved all his household in the hospitality business.

vs 6 – hastily instructed Sarah to prepare sumptuous meal for the visitors.

vs 7 – chose a choice animal for one of his servants to prepare for the visitors.

21:7 – he gave a lavish feast when Isaac was weaned.

This man, who lived by example, did not indulge his covenant son; the son he got at his advanced age.

Together, they made the journey to the wilderness and mountain where the boy was to be sacrificed as ordered by God. Isaac’s father would have taught him so much about sacrifice to Jehovah, the Almighty God, and it only makes sense to conclude that the lad looked forward to a time like this.

Question? Will a spoilt child strap woods on his back when there were servants around him? (Gen 22: 5-6).

Be prepared for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He will surely come.

Peace!
