TOPIC: DADDY & MUMMY, TAKE CARE OF YOUR CHILDREN (I)

Read: Gen 18: 16-19, Judges 13: 1-14

Calvary greetings to you in Jesus name.

I beseech you parents to please create quality time for the bundle of joy (children) God has given to you.

Proper upbringing of these children is so important to God and no wonder He revealed His secret to Abraham when He asserted that Abraham would bring up his children in ways that would satisfy Him.

If proper upbringing was not important to God, He would not have given instructions to the Manoas (Judges 13) before the arrival of baby Samson. There is a striking feature of this family that caught my attention. 

Mr Manoa entreated God that the angel would repeat his call in order for them to grasp the parenting details. This shows the importance of cooperation between the wife and husband in bringing up children in the way of the Lord.

So many parents in Bible times compromised godly upbringing of their children and they paid dearly for it.

Prophet Samuel who had intimidating curriculum vitae as God’s prophet failed woefully in this regard. This MoG indulged his children to a fault at the expense of God’s congregation. What a pity!!!

Mr and Mrs Isaac’s negligence and indulgence resulted in the family’s long lasting feud. Their careless love caused great enmity and rivalry between Esau and Jacob – blood brothers for that matter.

King David’s test in parenting was also a grand failure. 

Is there a way out? Yes, there is.

Brethren, let us strive to please God who has given us these gems, in bringing them up in His ways; there are immense benefits in doing so.
